So Yeah this week we finally went to see Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves now like Mario this isn't the first time we went to see a Dungeons & Dragons movie in the theater. We where actually there opening weekend to see the original Dungeons & Dragons in 2000 which at the time I thought was pretty good. Now I'm not a player of Dungeons & Dragons but I know and hang out with plenty of people who are and I have watched "guilds" play through quite a few campaigns and where it does seem fun and I do enjoy RPGs and the Fantasy elements and I'm always invited to play its just the table top stuff isn't really my thing I'm more of a Video Game Role Player and more interested in stuff like Final Fantasy/Dragon's Age/Mass Effect/ect. its noting against table top stuff Its just a preference I'm a Video Game girl lol
Now with this movie there was of course some collectable items which you can see here!
Now anyway as for the movie itself I thought it was excellent!! I'd have to say I did love it I enjoyed it alot. There was plenty of action and plenty of funny moments but also it did have a serious tone at times. it is true what the advertising says it's an "Epic Adventure" and I do feel that partly that is due to the writing I feel that the writers of this probably play the game and are familiar with how everything works being while watching this I had the feeling that this could actually be a campaign you could and would actually play.
Your basic story is pretty much this Edgin (Chris Pine) and his partner Holga (Michelle Rodriguez) have a band of thieves and they go out and do quests and adventures stealing treasures and what not. this came about do to a tragedy in Edgin's past which caused him to turn away form being a Hero and at this lowest point he met Holga who also suffered a from events in her past and the 2 became friends and started working together and created a group to go out and do jobs. During one of these one of the group members Forge (Hugh Grant) double crosses Edgin and Holga and they get sent to prison while Forge lives high on the treasure. Upon their Escape/release Edgin and Holga must get a team together to take down Forge and the powerful sorceress he is now working with and get everything back that they lost.
but like I said the movie is fun and exciting I did feel that it had alot of heart and at its core it is a story about family and going to pretty much the ends of the earth for them.
I did feel the acting was great and the characters are likeable and you do want them to succeed in their quest. Chris Pine and Justice Smith (who plays the somewhat bungling wizard Simon) bring alot of the humor to this movie. Also the pairing of Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez is really good too she plays this somewhat serious barbarian warrior who deep down has a soft heart. and there interactions are at times funny too and I wouldn't be surprised if she had a hard time keeping a straight face with him while filming. But also Sophia Lillis (Doric) who changes into animals through some really nice visuals and camera work and Hugh Grant (Forge) who is the double crosser and pretty much everyone else did an amazing job!!
but yes the movie is also a visual spectacle! The cinematography and locations were all amazing as well as the production design and the costumes. The visual effects were excellent including the Owlbear of course I'm all about that Owlbear! lol but yeah the creatures and animals, fights and stunts and everything was just top notch and really cool! Even the music just fit right into this and made the movie better
So with all that I would say the movie was excellent and a epic fun adventure! So give it a watch if you can being I would highly recommend it!
Also don't forget there is a funny lil mid credits scene for this also.

So what you're saying is that fey fight by vibe checking each other?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're all correct and also very wrong.
They fey fight like this (with Gosling Ken and Liu Ken as the Archfey):
With one notable exception: While the fey see this battle as both incredibly serious AND non-lethal, the mortals in the middle would in fact be VERY vulnerable to any weapons wielded, as their perspective is different than the fey fighting. It's why meddling in the conflicts of the fey as a mortal is so inadvisable. The fey around you, at the end of the day, will be fine as long as they're not planning on legitimately killing (permanently) the other side. And in my version of the feywild, they rarely want to, as removing one archfey just gives rise to others.

I was playing a Muppet movie as a D&D campaign, complete with token human character. I was playing Kermit. He was a bard.

Wish crossover with Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
if only for the scene of everyone freaking out about Edgin (cause Chris Pine) and he keeps going, "what? No I'm not a sorcerer and I don't grant wishes! That's his job!" *points to Simon*
Asha: "Then what do you do in a fight?"
Edgin: "Easy! Whack people in the head with my lute!" *proudly shows it off*
(And now I'm imagining Edgin and Sabino singing together while Asha and Kira watch happily. BONUS: Edgin teaches Sabino the drinking song from the movie and they embarrass Sakina and Holga by serenading the two of them.)

Summary: A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
Release Date: March 31, 2023
Directors: Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley
Rating: PG-13
I went in with mid-tier expectations due to the early trailers being meh, but it ended up being one of my favorite films of 2023! There are so many genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, the cast is phenomenal, and it’s wildly entertaining from start to finish. So if you’ve been avoiding this film due to low expectations, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!

In the nicest way possible, I’m legitimately surprised that the new Dungeons and Dragons movie is sitting at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. It just looked like one of those movies that would be seen as “fun but forgettable”, which is usually in the 70s-60s on RT. Good job to the studio, they actually took the project seriously.

Yes with our viewing of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves there was collectable goodies!! They had a couple of buckets of course but…I did not get these when we went to see Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves being we would not be seeing the movie for a little while we picked up these when we went to see Shazam: Fury of the Gods at the end of March I was worried stuff would be sold out before we went to see the movie so we picked everything up then and it all has been sitting on the kitchen counter all this time I just didn’t want to post them until we actually seen Dungeons & Dragons so anyway..
The buckets again were metal and embossed/stamped out ones that we gotten before. So on the front or what I'm considering the front it has some nice almost Fantasy Designs and of course the ever popular Owlbear from the movie.

On the back it has like a Red dragon logo with the Movies title under it. the bucket is very nice and it is the standard bucket they were selling

Then we also got the Limited Edition 20 sided dice bucket. They only had a handful of these so they were strictly first come first serve. They are made of like hard plastic and are made to look like the classic 20 sided dice you use to play D&D which I think is pretty cool and I'm happy I got one.

One Dress a Day Challenge
August: Fantasy & Sci-Fi
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves / David Durham as Ethereal Plane Sorcerer
This character only appears in Simon's visions when he is attempting to attune to the Helm of Disjunction; Simon identifies him with one of his ancestors, but it eventually becomes clear that the figure isn't exactly that...
Most of the characters in the movie either are ragtag adventurers or don't have much fashion sense (*cough*ForgeFitzwilliam*cough*), so this costume stands out as marking a character of both wealth and taste. His robe and cloak are clearly quite expensive, with gold trim and multiple different weave textures and patterns in the cloth, but they harmonize into a unified look without becoming too visually busy or tacky. The sorcerer's hat is based on a medieval European style known as a chaperon.
